After receiving a design degree, Gerald decided to go the "Old World method" of learning skills to become a Master Goldsmith. He served for two years as an Apprentice under a German Goldsmith, followed by two years as a Journeyman training under four different Masters. In February of 1968, he was accepted into the Pennsylvania Craftsmen Guild, and in 1997, he transferred his guild membership to the Florida Society of Goldsmiths.
A life of dedication to jewelry design and creation is evident in his work.
